Object record

The Object record card provides a summary of descriptive data, synthesizing the key properties of the selected object.

Basic Ref is the short citation of the most relevant paper who published the object data. Matter refers to the solid material from which the object is made (e.g., creta, aes, speculum, lignum, etc.). Product indicates the nature of the object’s contents (e.g., oleum, vinum, garum, etc.). Artifact field includes the typological name of the artifact. Findspot specifies the place of discovery along with its archaeological context. Dating may be determined by various criteria, such as associated epigraphy, archaeological context, or artifact typology, and can be either absolute (e.g., annus = a. 145 AD; anni = an. 149–161 AD) or relative (e.g., circa = ca. 145–149 AD; saecula = ss. II–III AD; terminus post quem = p.q. 41/42 AD; terminus ante quem = a.q. 10 AD). Comments section contains any additional relevant information about the object, while Sources lists the bibliography that has published information about the object or references it with relevant details.
